How to Apply to APU from Uzbekistan
A short guide for bachelor’s degree applicants: requirements, documents, online application, recorded interview, and 2027 application schedule.
Use this page as a step-by-step checklist. Finish Step 1 first, then move down the page in order.
Check requirements, notes, and schedule
Before preparing documents, check if you can apply and choose which language you want to study in.
School status
You should be in Grade 11 or already graduated from Grade 11.
If you want to study in English
Prepare IELTS. The usual minimum is IELTS 6.0. A higher score is better for scholarship chances.
IELTS 6.0+If you want to study in Japanese
Prepare JLPT. You need JLPT N2 with 120+ or JLPT N1 with 100+.

Uzbekistan follows the APU schedule for “Other Countries and Regions (Except Japan).” Official code names are shown here as simple round numbers.

Other accepted tests
APU accepts other official test scores too, such as TOEFL iBT, SAT, ACT, AP, EJU, and others. If you use these, check the latest APU Application Handbook because score rules can change.
Prepare documents and information
Make one folder on your computer. Save documents as clear PDF files. Do not upload phone photos if a proper scan is possible.
- 13×4 official face photoGo to a photo place and take a proper ID-style photo with appropriate clothing. Keep a digital copy ready for upload.
- 2International passportIn Uzbekistan, this is often called Zagran or Qizil passport. Prepare a full-color scanned copy.
- 3Language certificatePrepare your IELTS or JLPT certificate copy. If you use another test, follow that testing organization’s sending rules.
- 4Graduation documentIf you graduated, prepare Shahodatnoma. If you are still in Grade 11, use APU’s Certificate of Expected Graduation form with school director signature and stamp.
- 5School gradesPrepare grades for the last 3 years. If using emaktab or tabel, print it, get school signature and stamp, and translate if needed.
- 6Two recommendation lettersLetters can be from homeroom teacher, counselor, director, or subject teacher. Include teacher name, email, phone, position, and how long they have known you.
- 7Other official scoresSAT, ACT, AP, JLPT, IELTS, TOEFL, EJU, or other scores can help. SAT/ACT may need electronic score sending to APU.
- 8Extracurricular proofUse certificates, Maqtov Yorliq, Faxriy Yorliq, Tashakkurnoma, medals, participation certificates, or other proof. Translate if not in English or Japanese.
- 9Scholarship essaysThere are 4 short essays, maximum 200 words each. Write your own ideas from your own experience.
- 10Home address and postal codeWrite your official home address in English. Example: 36, Shotut street, Gulbog MFY, Kasansay district, Namangan, Uzbekistan.
- 11Emergency contact and sponsorPrepare full name, phone, email, occupation, employer name, and job title for the emergency contact and financial sponsor.
- 12School informationAsk your school for the official school name, phone number, address, email, and website if available. Use official names for all schools you attended.

Fill out the online application system
Use a computer. Open the APU Online Application System, create an account, start your application, and upload your PDF files.
Enter carefully
Names, dates, address, school names, and passport information must match your documents.
Upload PDF files
Use clear scans. Anything not originally in English or Japanese should have an official translation.
Check before submit
After payment and final submission, changes are difficult. Review everything before moving to payment.
Make the application fee payment
The application fee for international applicants residing outside Japan is 5,500 JPY. Students in Uzbekistan can usually pay by Visa card.
Take the recorded interview
After submitting the online application, you will be guided to a recorded interview. You will not talk to a live interviewer. Questions appear on screen and your answers are recorded.
Use a computer
Use Windows 10 or later, or macOS X 10.12 or later. You need a working camera and microphone.
Prepare the room
Be alone in a quiet room. Use stable internet. Read all instructions on the screen.
Know what APU checks
APU may evaluate your reason for applying, motivation, critical thinking, and communication.
